Adjunct Assistant Professor - Architecture & Construction Management (Site Design & Engineering)

About the role

The Architecture & Construction Management Department occasionally hires adjunct faculty members to teach courses in Site Design and Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Teach ARC364 - Site Design and Construction
• Teach CON103 - Surveying

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or related field, or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture, or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or Bachelor’s degree in Surveying or related field
• Minimum of 3 years of professional work experience
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Qualifications

• Experience in course-specific knowledge to teach according to course learning objectives and student learning outcomes
• Knowledge of prevailing building codes in Long Island jurisdictions
• Knowledge of site construction materials and assemblies specified in building and site design
• Knowledge of site design and construction for grading, drainage, site structures and pavement, and landscape preparation
• Knowledge of construction drawings, construction notes and specification organization, layers and preparation
• Field survey skills, surveying equipment, preparations of surveying drawings and reports, and use of field equipment

Skills

• Landscape Architectural Registration (RLA) license for ARC364
• Professional Engineering (PE) or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license for CON103
