About the role
The Adjunct Faculty member for EDUC 433x: Content and Pedagogy for Teaching Geometric Reasoning provides instructional support as a subject matter expert in mathematics content and pedagogy to the USC Mathematics Instructional Advancement Alliance (MIAA) program.
Responsibilities
- Provide course instruction through online platforms, including Zoom and the Learning Management System.
- Guide candidates in analyzing student thinking, identifying misconceptions, and designing responsive instruction focused on shapes, properties, measurement, symmetry, transformations, and geometric relationships across grade levels.
- Maintain regular communication with candidates, evaluate assignments, provide meaningful written feedback, assign grades in the LMS, and contribute to course and program improvement through participation in faculty and advisory board meetings.
Requirements
- A minimum of five years of full-time experience as a P–12 mathematics teacher in a diverse school setting.
- Experience in teacher education or leadership related to mathematics teaching and learning.
- A California Clear Credential in Foundational or Single Subject Mathematics with English Learner Authorization, or equivalent.
- Graduate-level online teaching experience.
- A PhD, EdD, or equivalent degree in an education-related field.
- Current knowledge of California adopted P–12 mathematics content standards, frameworks, and accountability systems.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
- Strong professional practice in teaching, learning, scholarship, and service.
- Skills in supporting candidates’ planning, diagnosis of mathematics difficulties, and development of instructional responses.
- Experience teaching through Zoom and a Learning Management System.
Qualifications
- Candidates must hold a California Clear Credential in Foundational or Single Subject Mathematics with English Learner Authorization, or equivalent.

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $7,457- $9,587 per course.
Schedule
The schedule for this position is 16 weeks.
