About the Role

Ensure the provision of quality patient care to all hospitalized patients in the most efficient manner in accordance with company policy. Provide direct supervision and coordination of inpatient staff, managing high-volume monthly treatments. Utilize the FMC mission, core values, and customer service philosophy to maintain quality service and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the tactical execution of short- and long-term objectives through coordination of activities, with direct responsibility for results including costs, methods, and staffing.
  • Monitor costs and spending in areas such as medical supply inventory, personnel, and accounts payable; determine innovative ways to reduce costs while maintaining quality.
  • Ensure proper staffing and operations at all contracted facilities, including efficient staff/patient scheduling and safe environment maintenance.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development plans for all direct reports; partner with Human Resources on employee matters.
  • Act as an advisor to subordinates to meet schedules or resolve technical problems.
  • Handle hiring, coaching, counseling, performance reviews, development, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Review profit and loss statements for department performance understanding.
  • Responsibilities for Acute Care Electronic System (ACES) include:
    • Respond, resolve, and follow up on customer service issues in a timely manner.
    • Collaborate with contracted facility representatives to maintain survey readiness for internal and external agency surveys.
    • Resolve specific department issues as suggested or directed by survey results.
    • Maintain and prepare QAI data and presentations; participate and present at meetings with internal and external representatives.
    • Assure provision of facility-specific QAI information as appropriate.
  • Interact with internal departments and external customers for problem resolution, acting as the industry expert.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital regulations and participate in surveys conducted by TJC, CMS, OSHA, and other agencies.
  • Ensure proper orientation and training programs for all clinical and technical staff, including continuing in-services and documentation.
  • Conduct and document acute staff meetings on a regular basis.
  • Ensure provision of dialysis and related services such as hemoperfusion, apheresis, continuous renal replacement therapies, peritoneal dialysis, and UF if contracted.
  • Ensure treatment information is documented appropriately and billing for services is timely and accurate.
  • Perform treatments if appropriately licensed, to assist during high census, staffing shortages, or to manage staffing costs.
  • Confer with Technical Program Manager and Technical Operations Manager to ensure preventative maintenance, timely repair of machines, infection control, routine culturing, water testing, and logging of results.
  • Ensure all acute treatments are performed according to established policies and procedures and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with various projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (RN); advanced degree desirable.
  • Current state licensure as applicable.
  • 3-5 years of related experience.
  • 3+ years of supervisory or project/program management experience preferred.

Work Environment

  • Availability for night and weekend calls/troubleshooting to oversee issues in a 24/7/365 service.
  • Day-to-day work includes desk and personal computer tasks, interaction with patients, facility staff, and physicians.
  • Travel between assigned facilities and various community locations; travel to regional, business unit, and corporate meetings may be required.
  • Work environment is characteristic of a healthcare facility with controlled air temperature and moderate noise levels; potential exposure to infectious and contagious diseases/materials.

Supervision

May be responsible for the direct supervision of various levels of inpatient staff as designated by region.
