Acute Care Technician - Med Surg Precision Abdominal
About the role
The Abdominal Unit at Good Samaritan Hospital is a 25-bed unit specializing in the post-operative and medical care of patients with diverse abdominal and gynecological needs. The care team is highly skilled in managing wound vacs, surgical drains, and ostomies, with the added capability of remote telemetry monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Performs and documents basic patient care tasks under RN supervision; maintains competency in trained skills, completes assignments on time, and seeks clarification when needed.
- Maintains a safe, clean environment by reporting hazards, following Infection Control policies, completing safety event reports, and adhering to safety and emergency procedures.
- Communicates effectively and respectfully with patients, families, and team members; reports patient information and assignment issues promptly; documents observations accurately; collaborates with the healthcare team and uses the chain of command appropriately.
- Supports unit operations by performing supply, equipment, and environmental tasks; reports shortages or equipment problems and ensures supplies/equipment are ready for the next user.
- Demonstrates accountability and commitment to self-growth; identifies areas for improvement and supports organizational and unit changes.
Requirements
- 2 years High School Education
- Age 17 with work permit
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Reading and math ability appropriate to the position
- Experience as an STNA, PCA or ACT strongly preferred
Qualifications
New nurses are welcomed with a 6-week competency-based orientation guided by an experienced preceptor. This training provides hands-on experience and education tailored to each nurse's unique needs, building expertise in abdominal and gynecological care, remote telemetry, and post-operative recovery protocols.
Skills

Pay
Additional $2/hr shift premium for night shift ACTs.
Schedule
Full Time Nights- (72 hours bi-weekly) 6:30pm - 7:00am Every 3rd weekend rotation Holiday rotation.
