About the role

This position is responsible for providing continuity of nursing business operations, support functions, and direct patient care functions under the supervision of the appropriate provider or Registered Nurse. Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for performing various technical procedures, providing or assisting in activities of daily living, as well as providing emotional support to Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric patients.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately obtaining and documenting adult and pediatric vital signs
  • Transporting of equipment/patients
  • Providing patient mobilization, activities of daily living, observing patients on safety precautions
  • Clerical responsibilities
  • Assisting care team members with various patient care tasks
  • Ordering and stocking of supplies

Requirements

  • Knowledgeable of the uses of equipment specific to the area of employment
  • Proficient in body mechanics, fire safety, infection control, patient safety, quality outcomes, CPR and safe handling of hazardous materials
  • Demonstrate proficiency in BLS, ACLS, phlebotomy, peripheral IV access insertion, medication administration, and any skills within established competencies and scope of practice as approved by Renown Health
  • Maintain accuracy; communicate effectively with different types of people; function effectively under stress; and the ability to identify and maintain priorities while responding simultaneously to requests from various parties
  • Remain courteous and tactful at all times while promoting optimal patient experience and patient outcomes
  • Ensure proper decontamination of equipment and supplies in accordance with Renown Health policies

Qualifications

  • Working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Medical terminology is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid State of Nevada and Nationally Registered EMT Advanced Certification through the National Registry of EMT upon hire.
  • May hold a Paramedic EMT certification for up to 60 days while awaiting movement into an open Paramedic position.
  • Completion of BLS certification by the American Heart Association (AHA) standards required at time of hire.
  • Completion of ACLS certification by the American Heart Association (AHA) standards required within 6 months of hire.
  • Completion of EKG monitor class within 6 months of hire.
