Acute Care Technician - Med Surg Pulmonary

About the role

The 5300 Medical-Surgical Renal/Pulmonary Unit at TriHealth Bethesda North is a 43-bed unit specializing in the care of patients with renal and pulmonary conditions, including COPD exacerbations and dialysis complications. Nurses on 5300 gain valuable experience and expertise while working alongside a supportive and collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents basic patient care tasks under RN supervision; maintains competency in trained skills, completes assignments on time, and seeks clarification when needed.
• Maintains a safe, clean environment by reporting hazards, following Infection Control policies, completing safety event reports, and adhering to safety and emergency procedures.
• Communicates effectively and respectfully with patients, families, and team members; reports patient information and assignment issues promptly; documents observations accurately; collaborates with the healthcare team and uses the chain of command appropriately.
• Supports unit operations by performing supply, equipment, and environmental tasks; reports shortages or equipment problems and ensures supplies/equipment are ready for the next user.
• Demonstrates accountability and commitment to self-growth; identifies areas for improvement and supports organizational and unit changes.

Requirements

• 2 years High School Education
• Age 17 with work permit
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Reading and math ability appropriate to the position
• Experience as an STNA, PCA or ACT strongly preferred
