The Opportunity

Step into a high-functioning Acute Care Surgery team at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, where you’ll practice the full breadth of emergency general surgery in a setting that balances complexity, autonomy, and true schedule flexibility. Our surgeons manage everything from pediatric and thoracic emergencies to major trauma, backed by a robust blood bank and reliable 24/7 in-house support services. You’ll have the opportunity to perform a wide range of cases while benefiting from a practice model that allows you to fully sign out when your shift ends, giving you the freedom to enjoy everything Alaska has to offer outside of work.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $3,700/24hr shift
  • $65k sign-on bonus
  • Full employee benefits, including medical, vision, dental, 401k
  • 120 shifts per year (10 shifts/month)
  • Hospital housing is provided, but travel is the provider's expense

Scope of Practice

  • Phone call with 30-minute response time during shifts
  • Consults from urgent care, emergency department, and inpatient services
  • Emergency and urgent surgery
  • Emergency endoscopy
  • Inpatient rounding and day-to-day management of admitted patients
  • Follow-up care and consults in the outpatient clinic
