About the role

This position is part-time with variable shifts available in the United States. The role involves medical/surgical nursing, focusing on acute and chronic illnesses across various settings. The nurse must demonstrate awareness of safety, legal issues, and patient rights, and possess essential skills like communication, math, and psychomotor abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Collects and analyzes patient data to identify actual or potential problems.
  • Develops and implements a collaborative plan to achieve expected outcomes.
  • Communicates effectively using verbal, non-verbal, and written methods.
  • Applies Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring to build caring relationships with patients.
  • Maintains a respectful environment that encourages open communication and ethical practice.
  • Advocates for patients and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Mentors new nurses and supports student nurses.
  • Plans, provides, and sustains evidence-based nursing services that are safe, effective, and financially responsible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license with the ability to practice in Kansas.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, required within 90 days of hire.
  • Preferred certifications include RQI, CPR, or ACLS.

Qualifications

  • Awareness and sensitivity to patient rights and safety issues.
  • Effective communication and mathematical skills.
  • Psychomotor skills competency.
  • Ability to work independently and manage patient care plans.

Skills

  • Effective verbal, non-verbal, and written communication.
  • Mathematical calculations for medication administration and equipment calibration.
  • Application of concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and ethical considerations.
  • Advocacy and promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Collaboration and mentoring skills.
  • Lifelong learning and commitment to professional growth.
  • Knowledge of Stormont Vail Health’s professional practice model and scope of practice.
  • Use of appropriate resources to plan and provide evidence-based nursing services.
