Acute Care RN - 6 North Medical Surgical - PRN
About the role
A medical/surgical nurse provides care for patients across various specialties and conditions, including but not limited to cardiac, oncology, stroke, joint, spine, post-surgical, palliative, psychiatric, and end-of-life issues. The role involves applying the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
Responsibilities
- Collects and analyzes assessment data to identify actual or potential problems and set expected outcomes.
- Develops and implements a collaborative plan of care that promotes health and wellness.
- Evaluates progress towards achieving goals and adjusts plans as necessary.
- Delivers professional nursing care guided by Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring, fostering caring relationships and mutual respect.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Mentors new nurses and supports nursing students.
- Participates in the evolution of the Stormont Vail Health professional practice model.
- Utilizes evidence-based practices to deliver safe, effective, and financially responsible care.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Registered Nurse (RN) license with the ability to practice in Kansas.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Preferred skills include awareness of safety issues, legal considerations, psychomotor skills, communication, and mathematical calculations.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of patient care in medical/surgical settings.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in math and computer applications relevant to nursing.
Skills
- Effective communication skills.
- Mathematical calculations for medication administration and equipment calibration.
- Ability to manage patient care plans and outcomes.
- Understanding of patient rights and legal considerations.
