The Intern will primarily assist with varying aspects of assumption setting and data analysis work. The Actuarial Intern position reports to Associate Actuary and can be based out of our office in Topeka or Overland Park, Kansas, Des Moines, Iowa, or remotely for the right candidate. We work a hybrid schedule, offering flexibility to work both remotely and on-site. Conduct data manipulation, organization, and analysisAssist with updating and improving reports, spreadsheets, and documentationContribute to attribution analysis of assumptions using Prophet Modeling softwareAssist with the actuarial assumption setting process while ensuring compliance with the assumption governance frameworkAssist with assumption documentation and assumption inventoryCollect, compile, and analyze policy level dataDevelop strong relationships by collaborating with other departments and business units (Valuation, Product Development, Planning, and Finance areas) What We’re Looking For: Students eligible for the internship will be current, fulltime students available to work 10 – 20 hours a week, beginning in fall 2026. The intern will be expected to work during and between semesters, including full-time over the summer. This is not a summer only internship. Full-time college student in Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Finance or Computer Science at the sophomore to graduate levelCommitment to pursue an actuarial credential demonstrated by preparation for Society of Actuaries-administered exams or exam credit preferredAdvanced Excel knowledge/skill required including functions and macro creation, editing and useDemonstrated ability with Visual Basic coding, SQL and/or R preferredStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong GPA in major and in all areas of studyStrong written and verbal communication skillsProven organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines requiredAccuracy and the ability to be very detail oriented Why Choose Security Benefit?
