Actuarial Internship
About the role
As a member of Chubb's Actuarial Team, you will help evaluate business opportunities in a given market by analyzing data using P&C actuarial techniques. P&C actuaries advise management on ways to balance the anticipated with the unexpected utilizing all resources available to them. The Actuarial Internship program offers college students the opportunity to work in one area of our department during the summer. Interns are located primarily in Philadelphia, PA and Whitehouse Station, NJ and are exposed to many facets of actuarial techniques while being introduced to insurance concepts.
In addition to working closely with their supervisor, interns are given an opportunity to network with other members of the Actuarial Department. We are looking for individuals who possess analytical skills, can effectively work as part of a team, are sophisticated communicators, and enjoy designing creative solutions to problems.
Responsibilities
- Analyze data using P&C actuarial techniques to evaluate business opportunities
- Work closely with supervisors and network with other members of the Actuarial Department
- Apply actuarial concepts and techniques to real-world insurance scenarios
Requirements
- Pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or a related field
- Undergraduate or Graduate Student in Actuarial Science; Mathematics; Science; Engineering; Economics; Finance or related course of study
- Strong GPA (3.5 or higher preferred)
- At least one actuarial exam passed is preferred
- Strong mathematical skills (including calculus, probability, and statistics)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel and Access
- Experience with SQL, R Studio, and Python is preferred
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to clearly explain projects/work products
- Ability to contribute to the attainment of business goals and objectives through teamwork
- Legally authorized for employment in the U.S. without need for current or future employment-based sponsorship
