ACTIVITY THERAPIST/MHW PT Eves D2

About the role

The Activity Therapist/Mental Health Worker collaborates with unit staff and the inter-disciplinary treatment team (under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist) to implement groups and activities within the hospital milieu, meeting the educational, recreational, and social needs of patients.

Delmonico 2 is an Adult Dual Diagnosis General Treatment Unit within Care New England Health System.

Responsibilities

• Ensures a safe and therapeutic environment on the unit through observation, monitoring, interacting, and providing groups.
• Assists registered nurses in direct patient care, specifically with patients’ activities of daily living when assigned.
• Serves as a patient advocate by role-modeling standards of performance and addressing patients’ needs for service.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in any of the social sciences preferred.
• Experience working with mentally ill clients; experience with activity-based groups preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
• Creative and flexible approach to patient care.

Schedule

Part-time (20/40 hours), evenings with every other weekend required.
