ACTIVITY THERAPIST/MHW FT Eves Float
About the role
The Activity Therapist/Mental Health Worker collaborates with unit staff and the inter-disciplinary treatment team (under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist) to implement groups and activities within the hospital milieu, meeting the educational, recreational, and social needs of patients.
Responsibilities
- Ensures a safe and therapeutic environment on the unit through observation, monitoring, interacting, and providing groups.
- Assists registered nurses in direct patient care, specifically with patients’ activities of daily living when assigned.
- Serves as a patient advocate by role-modeling standards of performance and communicating and meeting patients’ needs for service.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the social sciences preferred.
- Experience working with mentally ill clients; experience with activity-based groups preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Creative and flexible approach to patient care.
Schedule
36/72 Full Time Evenings - Every Other Weekend
