ACTIVITY THERAPIST/MHW FT Eves D3C
About the role
The Activity Therapist/Mental Health Worker collaborates with unit staff and the inter-disciplinary treatment team (under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist) to implement groups and activities within the hospital milieu, meeting the educational, recreational, and social needs of patients.
This position is on the Delmonico 3C Unit, which provides specialized treatment for patients with unique and complex needs, including those with psychotic and mood disorders, severe behavioral disturbances, and intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Ensures a safe and therapeutic environment on the unit through observation, monitoring, interacting, and providing groups.
- Assists registered nurses in direct patient care, specifically with activities of daily living when assigned.
- Acts as a patient advocate by role-modeling standards of performance and addressing patients’ needs for service.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the social sciences preferred.
- Experience working with mentally ill clients; experience with activity-based groups preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Creative and flexible approach to patient care.
Schedule
Full-time, 36 hours per week (72-hour pay period) on evenings, including every other weekend.
