About the Role
The Activity Therapist/Mental Health Worker collaborates with unit staff and the inter-disciplinary treatment team (under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist) to implement groups and activities within the hospital milieu, addressing the educational, recreational, and social needs of patients on Delmonico 3, an Adult Inpatient Addiction/Detox Unit.
Responsibilities
- Ensures a safe and therapeutic environment on the unit through observation, monitoring, interacting, and providing groups.
- Assists registered nurses in direct patient care, including activities of daily living, when assigned.
- Serves as a patient advocate by role-modeling standards of performance and addressing patients’ needs for service.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the social sciences preferred.
- Experience working with mentally ill clients; experience with activity-based groups preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Creative and flexible approach to patient care.
