Activities Director
Responsibilities
- Create and ensure posting of the Daily HappYnings.
- Post blog entries weekly.
- Create a monthly activity calendar including weekend and evening activities.
- Design and implement a diverse range of activities that align with Montessori principles.
- Be able to explain “what is Montessori” in your own words.
- Speak about Montessori Inspired Lifestyle from an authentic, first-person perspective.
- Tailor activities to meet the individual needs and preferences of residents.
- Foster a sense of purpose and autonomy among residents.
- Engage in activities that align with the 12 Principles of Montessori.
- Work closely with caregivers, nursing staff, and family members to integrate activities into daily routines and care plans.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on Montessori methods and activity-based care for residents with dementia.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of activities and make necessary adjustments.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and progress.
- Document the outcomes of activity programs.
- Plan and chaperone appropriate community outings.
- Ensure residents' safety and enjoyment during outings.
- Create activities and environments for themed meals, holidays, and special events.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of resident care plans.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in activity planning for seniors, preferably in a dementia care setting. Experience with Montessori methods is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Certifications: Certified Activity Director (ADC) or equivalent certification preferred, or certification required by state.

Pay & Schedule
Pay available daily. Benefits start the 1st of the month following 30 days of employment. Benefits options vary based on employment status, including medical, dental, vision, and voluntary products. Part-time employees may also qualify for Voluntary Life, Voluntary Short-Term Disability, Voluntary Long-Term Disability, Accident, Critical Illness, Identity Protection, and Cyber Monitoring.
Benefits
