Acquisitions Sales Representative - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
About the role
We're seeking a driven Acquisitions Sales Representative to develop lasting partnerships with college professors. This remote position requires approximately 7 weeks of overnight travel per semester, alternating between one week working from home and the following week on a college campus. The ideal candidate will be located in Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Lancaster, York, Reading, Allentown) or Maryland (Towson, Hunt Valley, Timonium, Owing Mills, Frederick).
As the driver and decision maker, you will call and travel to different colleges and universities in your territory to identify business opportunities, interview professors, and persuade author candidates to partner with Kendall Hunt. We focus on partnering with talented educators in charge of lower-level, higher-enrollment courses to develop interactive and engaging materials that meet student needs.
Responsibilities
- Interview professors and listen for business potential.
- Persuade select candidates to partner with Kendall Hunt Publishing.
- Identify business opportunities on college and university campuses in your territory.
- Engage with professors to understand their needs and propose solutions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with authors and educators.
- Manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously with strong attention to detail.
- Handle responsibilities independently while collaborating with the team.
- Identify challenges and develop practical solutions to enhance customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Enjoys spending time on college campuses.
- Strong communication and sales skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Persistence, adaptability, and flexibility in overcoming challenges.
- Proficiency in managing responsibilities requiring substantial independent work and team collaboration.
