ACNP/PA- Urology

About the role

Erlanger is seeking a dedicated and skilled ACNP or PA to join our Urology team at the Baroness campus. This inpatient role offers the opportunity to work closely with a fast-paced urologic surgeon, serving as a first assist in the OR and managing comprehensive pre-operative and post operative patient care. This position is involved in a team-based approach to care.

Responsibilities

• Assist in a variety of urologic procedures in the OR, contributing to surgical preparation, intraoperative support, and post-surgical recovery
• Manage patients before surgery through assessments and coordination
• Manage patients after surgery by monitoring recovery, addressing complications and ensuring smooth transitions to discharge or follow up care
• Round on inpatient urology cases, collaborating with the care team to evaluate progress, update treatment plans, and communicate with patients and families
• Handle discharge responsibilities including patient education, medication reconciliation, and coordination of outpatient services to ensure continuity of care
• Coordinate care for patients and support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change
• Manage the practices' patient population
• Participate in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation
• Develop evidence based protocols and utilize them to develop an individualized plan of care
• Collect, document, and analyze patient data
• Collaborate with the health care team in the development and implementation of testing and treatment according to protocols
• Participate in development and implementation of health screening program for adolescents and adults, and develop protocols for identification of high-risk individuals
• Participate in community and corporate education on urological topics
• Participate in clinical research and may assume the responsibility of research coordinator including but not limited to education and enrollment in clinical trials

Qualifications

• Completion from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program, Family Nurse Practitioner Program, Adult Nurse Practitioner Program (Acute care certification required) or Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
• Current licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the State of Tennessee

• Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over their life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status
• Interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures
• Prior OR experience is preferred
