About the role

The ACES In-School Suspension (ISS) Paraprofessional supports the educational mission of Amelia County Elementary School by providing direct assistance to students in a structured setting.

Responsibilities

• Support classroom teachers in implementing lesson plans and activities
• Assist students with academic tasks and assignments
• Maintain a safe and orderly environment for students
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and needs
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills

Requirements

• Absolutely no criminal background check is required
• Highly Qualified Status: Paraprofessional assessment certification, an Associate's Degree, or a minimum of 60 college credits from an accredited university is required.
• Personal qualities and characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, parents, instructional staff, support staff, and administrators.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in a school setting is preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Pay

The approved salary scale for the 2026-2027 school year is: Step 0 ($20,940) - Step 30 ($35,238); placement on the paraprofessional salary scale is commensurate with experience.
