Accounts Receivable Clerk
About the role
We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our organization in various locations across New York and Connecticut. This role focuses on maintaining accurate cash application, supporting customer credit activity, and helping keep receivables current and well documented. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in accounts receivable operations, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with internal teams to resolve payment and billing issues.
Responsibilities
- Record and apply incoming bank deposits to customer accounts with a high level of accuracy.
- Review checks and remittance details to ensure proper coding and timely cash posting.
- Manage customer chargebacks and deduction activity, including research and follow-up on open items.
- Process product returns, issue credit memos, and handle markdown-related account adjustments.
- Investigate and resolve invoice variances promptly by coordinating with relevant internal stakeholders.
- Submit credit requests to external credit insurance providers and maintain supporting documentation.
- Partner with sales staff and management to review customer credit exposure and assigned credit limits.
- Notify leadership when customer credit availability changes and help maintain accurate internal credit line records.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in accounts receivable operations, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with internal teams to resolve payment and billing issues. Experience with QuickBooks Online and other cloud-based systems is preferred.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is preferred. Relevant work experience in accounts receivable operations is necessary.

Benefits
This position offers a competitive salary range of $65,000 - $82,000 annually, depending on experience and location. Additional benefits may include health insurance, retirement plans, and professional development opportunities.
Pay
The starting salary for this position ranges from $22.80 to $26.40 per hour, depending on experience and location.
Schedule
The schedule for this position varies based on the location and can range from 30 hours per week to full-time. Positions may be either permanent or temporary to hire, with some opportunities for permanent conversion.
