Accounts Receivable Clerk
Responsibilities
- Create and issue customer invoices on a consistent daily schedule, ensuring all billing details are complete and accurate before distribution.
- Record incoming payments from multiple sources, including cash, checks, and credit card transactions, and apply them correctly to customer accounts.
- Review accounts receivable records regularly and reconcile ledger balances to confirm that posted payments and open items are accurate.
- Investigate billing questions and work directly with customers to address discrepancies, resolve account issues, and support timely payment.
- Compile aging summaries and other receivables reports on a weekly and monthly basis for leadership review and follow-up.
- Maintain organized and current customer account documentation, including updates to payment terms and account status.
- Evaluate new customer accounts for creditworthiness using available financial and payment history information.
- Support commercial collections efforts by following up on overdue balances and documenting account activity thoroughly.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in accounts receivable, billing, or a closely related accounting support role.
- Hands-on experience with invoicing, cash application, payment posting, and account reconciliation.
- Background in commercial collections and customer account follow-up.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Great Plains Dynamics, including Great Plains/GPAC environments.
- Strong understanding of accounts receivable processes and billing functions.
- Ability to analyze account activity, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues efficiently.
- Solid organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with customers and internal teams.
