Responsibilities

  • Record incoming payments each day with precision, including allocations across multiple invoices, partial remittances, short payments, and other exceptions.
  • Investigate payment irregularities such as unapplied cash, incorrect postings, and account mismatches, then take appropriate steps to correct them.
  • Courteously collect outreach on overdue accounts while preserving positive, respectful relationships with clients.
  • Cook with billing, project, and accounting personnel to address invoicing questions and resolve payment-related concerns.
  • Keep thorough documentation of cash posting activity, collection efforts, and account follow-up for accurate reporting and audit readiness.
  • Monitor open receivables and disputed items to help drive timely resolution of aged balances.
  • Recommend practical improvements that strengthen the efficiency and accuracy of cash application and collection workflows.
  • Provide support during month-end close by completing accounts receivable tasks and preparing related records as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • At least four years of accounting experience, including substantial hands-on work in accounts receivable.
  • Proven ability to handle detailed cash application and reconcile complex customer payments.
  • Experience performing collections in a detail-oriented, service-oriented manner.
  • Strong knowledge of core accounting practices and accounts receivable procedures.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems, with QuickBooks experience preferred, along with solid Microsoft Excel skills.
  • High level of accuracy, strong analytical thinking, and the ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
