About the Role

The Accounts Receivable Clerk performs accounts receivable and medical billing functions to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement for services provided.

Responsibilities

  • Apply customer, insurance, and electronic payments accurately to patient accounts
  • Post payments from checks, credit cards, Electronic Remittance Advices (ERAs), and Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)
  • Research and resolve payment discrepancies
  • Process credit card payments and account credits
  • Make account adjustments in accordance with company policies
  • Verify daily deposits before submission to the bank
  • Maintain accurate financial and billing records while ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Assist with assigned projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Comptroller

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent (GED)
  • Proficiency in keyboarding

Skills

  • Knowledge of accounts receivable principles and medical billing procedures
  • Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and payer requirements
  • Understanding of Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) processes
  • Ability to interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and Electronic Remittance Advices (ERAs)
  • Experience using computerized billing systems, accounting software, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members

Schedule

Regular work hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility as needed to meet business requirements. This position may be performed under a hybrid work arrangement, combining remote and in-office work based on operational needs and supervisor approval.

Working Conditions

  • Sedentary work requiring prolonged periods of sitting
  • Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and move throughout the office as necessary
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, printers, telephones, and calculators
