About the role
The Colorado Department of State seeks a qualified individual to serve as an Accounts Payable Technician within the Administration Division. This position supports the Office of the Secretary of State and provides direct support to the Department staff.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the Department’s primary Accounts Payable (AP) technician.
- Responsible for end-to-end AP processing, vendor management, and compliance with State Fiscal Rules.
- Provides commercial card (OneCard) oversight.
- Provides structured backup support for Accounts Receivable (AR), travel, and payroll functions to ensure continuity of operations.
- The primary purchaser for the Department.
- Recommends policy and procedural changes to improve processes.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications: Three (3) years of relevant professional experience and/or education in a field of study related to the work.
- Education and Experience Combined: A combination of experience as defined in Option 1 along with education, successful relevant course work from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Auditing, Bookkeeping, Finance or any closely related field to equal 3 years.
- Preferred Qualifications: Professional experience in accounts payables, including invoice review, accurate coding, vendor communication, and familiarity with State Fiscal Rules and commercial card requirements.
