Accounts Payable Technician

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable transactions, review expenditures for policy compliance, prepare financial records and reconciliations, support the Foundation Credit Card Program, maintain accounting documentation, and assist with audit activities while ensuring adherence to University, Foundation, and regulatory requirements.
• Process purchase requisitions and check requests.
• Review paperwork to ensure adherence to all University and Foundation policies, Federal and California regulatory guidelines, donor restrictions, and accounting rules.
• Review transactions to ensure appropriate coding and propose resolutions for reclassifications and/or incorrect postings of expenditures.
• Review monthly reconciliations and create journal entries for cardholders in the Foundation Credit Card program.
• Prepare required schedules for annual financial audit and other audits or reviews as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Combination of experience and education equivalent to three years of accounts payable experience or closely related financial recordkeeping experience.
• PeopleSoft experience is highly preferred.

Skills

• Knowledge of accounts payable principles, fund accounting, and financial recordkeeping.
• Ability to interpret and apply University, Foundation, and regulatory policies and procedures.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete multiple assignments within established deadlines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with a strong customer service orientation.
• Proficiency in financial systems, Microsoft Excel, and the ability to prepare accurate reconciliations and journal entries.

Pay

The anticipated hiring range is $4,037 - $4,546 per month, dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is $4,037 - $5,881 per month.

Schedule

• Full-time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday. May include evenings and weekends.
• Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
• Currently hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote); subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
