Accounts Payable Specialist

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Receives and verifies expense reports
  • Reconciles expense and other financial reports with account balances and other office records
  • Facilitates payment of vendors, which may include verification of federal ID numbers, reviewing purchase orders, and resolving discrepancies
  • Ensures outstanding obligations are credited upon payment, identifies discount opportunities, and issues purchase order amendments or stop-payment orders as needed
  • Aids in accounting records and ledgers by reconciling monthly statements and transactions
  • Maintains accurate historical records of payments and actions around payments
  • Monitors accounts to ensure payments are up to date
  • Calculates and reports sales tax based on paid invoices
  • Other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of accounts payable
  • Strong computer software knowledge/skills, including Excel spreadsheets
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders

Education And Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounting
  • Associate degree preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting
  • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
