We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to provide immediate support to a busy finance team in South Carolina. This contract position is ideal for a detail-oriented candidate who can quickly assume ownership of core payables activities with minimal training.
Responsibilities
- Enter and review vendor invoices with accuracy, ensuring proper coding and timely processing.
- Execute payment activities, including ACH transactions, wire transfers, check requests, and scheduled check runs.
- Process employee expense submissions and verify supporting documentation for compliance and accuracy.
- Reconcile corporate card activity, monitor unreconciled charges, and follow up on outstanding employee expenses.
- Prepare accounts payable accruals and post related journal entries to support accurate financial reporting.
- Administer Positive Pay procedures and help safeguard payment activity through careful exception handling.
- Serve as a key point of contact for vendor inquiries, resolving payment issues and maintaining strong supplier records.
- Provide dependable accounts payable coverage by stepping into daily operations quickly and helping stabilize department workload.
Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on Accounts Payable experience in a fast-paced business environment.
- Strong background in invoice coding, account coding, and high-volume invoice processing.
- Practical experience handling ACH payments, wire transfers, check requests, and check runs.
- Proven ability to process expense reports and manage corporate credit card reconciliations.
- Experience preparing AP accruals and journal entries with a strong understanding of financial accuracy.
- Familiarity with Positive Pay and vendor account management best practices.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and contribute with minimal ramp-up time.
