Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a growing organization in Needham, Massachusetts on a Contract basis. This position is ideal for someone who brings strong accuracy, sound judgment, and a hands-on approach to managing daily payables activities. The role will support timely invoice handling, shared inbox coordination, and additional accounting-related assignments as business needs evolve. Responsibilities: • Review, code, and enter vendor invoices with a high degree of accuracy and in accordance with company procedures. • Oversee the accounts payable inbox, respond to inquiries, and route requests to the appropriate contacts in a timely manner. • Prepare and process payments through ACH and check runs while ensuring proper approvals are in place. • Reconcile payable records, investigate discrepancies, and follow through on outstanding items with vendors and internal teams. • Maintain organized documentation for invoices, payment activity, and related audit support materials. • Assist with priority projects and provide administrative support for broader accounts payable and accounting initiatives as needed. • Prior experience in accounts payable with a solid understanding of full-cycle invoice processing. • Ability to perform account coding accurately and consistently across a high volume of transactions. • Working knowledge of coding invoices, payment processing, ACH activity, and check run procedures. • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. • Clear written and verbal communication skills for working with vendors and internal stakeholders. • Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel.
