Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support day-to-day payables operations for a team in Geneva, New York. This contract position with permanent potential is ideal for someone who brings strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and a solid understanding of invoice processing and payment workflows. The person in this role will help maintain accurate financial records, ensure timely disbursements, and contribute to an efficient accounts payable function. Responsibilities: • Review incoming invoices for accuracy, completeness, and proper approval before entering them into the payment system. • Assign general ledger or account codes to invoices and expense items in alignment with internal accounting practices. • Process vendor payments through multiple methods, including ACH transactions and scheduled check runs, while meeting established deadlines. • Maintain organized accounts payable records and supporting documentation to promote audit readiness and accurate reporting. • Investigate invoice discrepancies, resolve payment-related issues, and communicate with vendors or internal partners as needed. • Use Workday to enter, track, and update payable transactions while helping keep financial data current and reliable. • Hands-on experience in accounts payable, including high-volume invoice review and payment processing. • Working knowledge of account coding and the ability to classify invoices accurately within an accounting structure. • Experience handling ACH payments and coordinating routine check disbursements. • Familiarity with invoice coding procedures and documentation standards. • Proficiency with Workday or a comparable enterprise financial system. • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy in transactional work.
