We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a construction/manufacturing organization in Winston Salem, North Carolina. This position is suited for someone who brings strong invoice processing experience, solid attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively across teams.

About the role

The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing day-to-day payable activities, maintaining accurate records, and supporting timely vendor payments in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review, code, and process vendor invoices accurately while ensuring charges are assigned to the correct accounts.
  • Prepare and coordinate routine payment runs, including checks and other approved disbursement methods, to meet established deadlines.
  • Reconcile payable records and investigate discrepancies by working closely with vendors and internal departments.
  • Maintain organized documentation for invoices, approvals, and payment activity to support audit readiness and reporting needs.
  • Monitor outstanding obligations and help ensure timely resolution of issues that could affect payment schedules.
  • Communicate professionally with suppliers and team members to answer questions, clarify invoice details, and resolve account concerns.
  • Use spreadsheets and related tools to track payment activity, support account analysis, and assist with routine reporting.
  • Contribute to process consistency and support updates to payable workflows or systems when needed.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in accounts payable, including hands-on work with invoice coding, invoice processing, and check runs.
  • Background in construction-related payable work is highly valued.
  • Minimum of an Associate's degree.
  • Basic proficiency in Excel for tracking, organizing, and reviewing financial information.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify discrepancies and follow issues through resolution.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail in a deadline-driven setting.
