Accounts Payable Specialist

About the Role

The Accounts Payable Specialist ensures the timely payment of vendor invoices and reimbursement requests under minimal direction of the Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the integrity of the Accounts Payable module in compliance with GAAP and NCIRE policy
  • Accurately review, code, obtain approval, and process vendor invoices, subject payments, and reimbursement requests
  • Process payments via checks and ACH
  • Review and reconcile invoice discrepancies
  • Research and respond to accounts payable inquiries
  • Distribute accounts payable checks and process for filing
  • Interface and coordinate with purchasing agent
  • Prepare use tax entries
  • Serve as front desk backup
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum 1-3 years of accounting experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel and Outlook
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across internal and external parties
  • Ability to manage and process a high volume of transactions while maintaining accuracy, attention to detail, and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties, including sitting for extended periods and operating assigned computer equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with grant accounting and federal award compliance
  • Experience with automated accounting systems; Acumatica experience a plus

Working Conditions

This position is based in our San Francisco, CA office and operates in a professional office environment. Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines is required.

Onboarding Requirements

Candidates must complete SFVA onboarding, including a federal background check, occupational health clearance, vaccines and immunizations, and drug testing for certain positions. Drug testing may include screening for marijuana, which remains illegal under federal law. Failure to pass required drug testing will disqualify candidates from employment.

This position requires access to United States Government research under the Veterans Administration. Qualified U.S. citizens will be prioritized over other eligible individuals.

Pay

The base wage range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00 per hour. The offered wage will consider relevant factors such as geographic location, job-related experience, knowledge, skills, education, and internal equity. Additional compensation, including bonuses, may also be available.
