About the role

This is a 12‑month Limited Term (LT) position that may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent. The role is based in Sacramento County with a hybrid telework arrangement and is full‑time. It is classified as an Accounting Officer (Specialist) (Job Code JC‑531317, Position # 673‑820‑4546‑XXX) within the Fiscal Services Division’s Accounting Branch of the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA). The branch manages accounting, financial reporting, and fiscal control activities for CARB and CalEPA, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, reconciling accounts, preparing financial reports, providing guidance on accounting policies and procedures, strengthening internal controls, supporting process improvements, and ensuring compliance with state and federal accounting and financial reporting requirements. The incumbent supports disbursement activities within the Accounts Payable Unit B‑Grants, including processing payments for the MyFirstEV Program.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision of an Accounting Administrator I, perform analytical and technical work to support disbursement activities within Accounts Payable Unit B‑Grants, including processing payments for the MyFirstEV Program.
• Analyze payment transactions and prepare supporting documentation.
• Ensure compliance with established accounting policies and procedures.
• Promote operational consistency and strengthen internal‑control effectiveness.
• Ensure timely and accurate payments for the MyFirstEV Program.
• Contribute to the branch’s goals of accurate financial recording, account reconciliation, and financial reporting.
• Provide guidance and training on accounting policies and procedures.
• Support continuous process improvements and internal‑control strengthening.
