Accounts Payable Clerk
About the role
We are looking for an Accounting Clerk to support daily financial operations for our team in Wakefield, Massachusetts. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable handling a high volume of transactional work with accuracy. The position will focus on maintaining financial records, processing invoices, and helping ensure timely movement of incoming and outgoing payments.
Responsibilities
- Process vendor invoices, verify supporting details, and prepare payments in accordance with established timelines.
- Record customer payments, apply receipts accurately, and help monitor outstanding balances for follow-up.
- Enter financial information into accounting systems with a strong focus on completeness and precision.
- Maintain organized records for payables, receivables, and related documentation to support reporting and audits.
- Reconcile account activity by reviewing transactions and identifying discrepancies that require correction.
- Absorb routine accounting tasks in QuickBooks, including updating entries and reviewing transaction details.
- Communicate with internal teams and provide support for additional assignments as needed.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, along with at least 1-2 years of experience in accounting or a related field. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills are essential. Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office is preferred.
