We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to support day-to-day financial operations for a Contract position based in Buffalo, New York. This role is well suited for someone who can manage invoice workflows accurately, maintain organized payment records, and help keep vendor transactions on schedule. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounts payable experience and a consistent, deadline-driven approach to processing high-volume financial documents. Responsibilities: • Review incoming vendor invoices for accuracy, proper approvals, and complete supporting documentation before processing. • Assign correct accounting codes to invoices and enter payment data into the appropriate system with a high level of precision. • Manage the full invoice processing cycle from receipt through payment preparation while maintaining organized records. • Prepare and support scheduled check runs to ensure vendors are paid accurately and on time. • Reconcile invoice details against purchase information or internal documentation to resolve discrepancies promptly. • Communicate with vendors and internal teams regarding payment status, missing details, or exceptions requiring follow-up. • Maintain accounts payable files and documentation in a manner that supports audit readiness and efficient retrieval. • Assist with routine reporting and other administrative tasks related to accounts payable operations as needed. • Hands-on experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role. • Demonstrated ability to code invoices accurately and process a high volume of transactions efficiently. • Working knowledge of check run procedures and payment processing best practices. • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify errors, inconsistencies, and missing information. • Comfortable using accounting systems and standard office software for data entry, tracking, and recordkeeping. • Effective written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with vendors and internal stakeholders. • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced work environment.
