Accounts Payable Clerk

Description Summary Spire is seeking a contingent Accounts Payable Clerk to work in our Birmingham, AL location. This Accounts Payable Clerk role is responsible for compiling, processing and maintaining accounts payable records. Duties and Responsibilities Process invoices and payment requests utilizing a 2-way or 3- way PO matching via the accounts payable software according to department policies and deadlinesVerifies approval and other information on invoices and payment requests for completenessValidates that approvals comply with company policyReviews and resolves vendor invoices via account aging statementsProcesses invoices and payment requests in Oracle efficiently and expeditiously in accordance with departmental metrics and standardsResearches and resolves invoice holds and discrepancies to ensure timely paymentCommunicates effectively with internal and external customersAssists with the opening and distribution of department mailPerforms job duties in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley 404 internal controlsAll other duties as assigned. Required Education (certifications, licenses) ■ Requires a high school diploma ■ Associate's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related business discipline preferred. Required Knowledge, Skill And Abilities Three + years' experience in Accounts Payable or related business experienceKnowledge of Oracel eBusiness Suite (or other large ERP systems)an ERP payment system preferred (preferably Oracle)Proficiency in using Microsoft ExcelMust have experience in working in a Purchase Order environmentWorking knowledge of procurement and Payables using an integrated ERPAdvanced knowledge of full cycle Accounts Payable Physical demands, environment and schedule Normal Work Environment - Work is normally performed in a shared office environment. Normal business hours. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Birmingham, AL. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
