About the Role
This position performs entry-level accounts examination and auditing work, ensuring compliance with laws, rules, and regulations. Duties include reviewing and auditing operating reports and financial accounting records, preparing audit reports, establishing employment tax liability, and assisting employers with tax forms.
Responsibilities
- Examine and audit employer accounting records for compliance with laws, rules, and regulations
- Prepare audit reports of findings, outline discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions
- Establish employment tax liability, open and close employer tax accounts, and ensure compliance
- Collect delinquent reports and taxes by contacting employers and reviewing audits forms for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Perform a variety of skip tracing techniques and investigations
- Communicate with employers, legislators, and state/federal agencies to provide information regarding the Texas Unemployment Compensation Act and other state/federal laws and policies
- Perform frequent telephone contact to obtain information necessary to resolve account problems, answer questions, and provide quality customer service
- Organize a heavy workload to resolve concurrent assignments and meet deadlines
Requirements
- One year of full-time experience in maintaining accounting records or performing auditing work
- Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position
- Acceptance into a TWC Internship or Apprenticeship will satisfy the minimum qualifications
Qualifications
- Experience in accounting or auditing
- Experience in investigations
- Experience in collections
- Experience with payroll records
- Experience with financial records and statements
- Experience in providing information regarding the Texas Unemployment Compensation Act or other state and federal laws and policies
- Personal computer programs experience, including Microsoft Outlook and Excel
- Public speaking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
