Accounting Technician- MU Foundation Position
Duties
- Classifies/codes a variety of transactions in accordance with internal and regulatory policies and guidelines.
- Reviews accounts, ledgers, and supporting documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with laws and regulations.
- Prepares bank deposits and/or checks.
- Makes correcting and/or adjusting entries on ledger.
- Examines accounting records to assure adherence to accounting laws and regulations; verifies calculations and ensures accuracy and validity of transactions.
- Performs moderately complex posting and balancing of transactions.
- Maintains accounting records; gathers data and prepares moderate to complex reconciliations and reports from records maintained.
- May assist supervisor in preparing analytical materials by compiling data and preparing summaries and requests.
- May train and review the work of clerical staff.
- Supports other accounting and organizational activities as deemed appropriate.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of accounting experience.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Ability to perform moderately complex posting and balancing of transactions.

About the Role
Under general supervision, performs accounting support duties. The incumbent is responsible for performing moderately complex posting, coding of transactions, and examining records to assure adherence to relevant laws and regulations. Supports the mission of the Foundation by providing advice and counsel regarding fundraising and philanthropy, investing and managing gifts and pledges for the University, and providing a strong base of private-sector support for the University.
