Accounting Supervisor
General Job Summary
Manages the development, implementation and/or maintenance of one or more accounting systems: Journal entries, General Ledger, Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payable, Revenue Reconciliation, Cash Flows, etc. in accordance with GAAP policies and procedures. Designs operational procedures and processes that meet audit standards and improve efficiency. Ensures integration of data produced into systems and supports objectives of financial analysts. Ensures the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data and revenue. Participates in annual audits and special projects. May work with external consultants or auditors to provide required information and ensure proper recordkeeping for historical purposes.

- Recommends changes to sub-unit, unit or focus policies.
- Takes actions to monitor and manage costs related to a department.
- Works on issues requiring the analysis of data, relevant factors and resolves problems.
- Exercises judgment and interpretation to help define procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.
- Develops and manages routine operational plans.
- Messes targets typically against a monthly plan.
- Interacts with subordinate supervisors and functional peer groups.
- Interacts with audiences familiar with the subject.
- Provides direct supervision to professional individual contributors and/or skilled, support individual contributors (e.g., technicians, lab assistants, designers, support personnel).
- Acts as guide to unit or sub-units and may become actively involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems.
- Provides input and contributes to managing costs related to a unit or subunit.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has supervisory responsibilities.
Experience and Skills
- Senior level accounting experience.
- Supervisory or team lead experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition and the ability to interpret and apply its guidance in real world scenarios.
- Detail-oriented with strong focus on accuracy and maintaining data quality.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities.
- Ability to identify process improvements to improve efficiency.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by company and government requirements.
- Communicate and interact effectively with peers, supervisors, and public, including maintaining respect for others, and following company policies.
- Have a willingness and ability to learn and utilize company technology for company required purposes, including, for example training, reviewing and signing policies and procedures, benefits enrollment and changes, and more.
- Ability to obtain security clearance, if needed.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related major.
- 7+ years progressive accounting experience.
- 2+ years supervisory or team lead experience.
- CPA preferred.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
- Office Environment.
- Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones).
