Accounting Supervisor

The Accounting Supervisor plays a critical role in managing financial activities across multiple projects and leading the accounting team.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and train accounting staff; manage workload distribution to ensure all departmental deadlines are met.
- Review & Approval: Perform first-level review of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements prepared by staff to ensure accuracy and GAAP compliance.
- Process Improvement: Identify, develop, and implement streamlined accounting procedures and internal controls to enhance department efficiency.
- Compliance Oversight: Ensure the team follows procedures and policies to facilitate effective financial reporting and compliance with Federal WIOA, local, State, and corporate policies.
- Fiscal Management: Direct fiscal operations relating to financial planning, funds management, accounting, and reporting.
- Budgeting & Strategy: Lead the preparation and maintenance of project budgets, forecasts, and working capital requirements.
- Executive Liaison: Serve as a primary point of contact for senior leadership, Executive Directors, and our contracts/customers, providing high-level financial insight and performance reporting.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 7+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Technical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); ability to reconcile complex balance sheets and profit/loss reports.
- WIOA/Grant Knowledge: Proven experience with budgeting and forecasts across multiple funding streams (specifically WIOA or government contracting) is highly preferred.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced MS Excel and Accounting Software skills (QuickBooks, Adaptive Workday, and Expensify experience a plus).
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage a team, foster a collaborative environment, and work effectively in a virtual/remote setting.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to translate complex financial data for non-financial management and staff.
- Organizational Skills: High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and meet strict month-end deadlines.
- Integrity: Must possess high ethical standards and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Travel: Minimal travel required to meet Project Teams and Board Staff.

Benefits
The Accounting Supervisor at Career Team enjoys a competitive salary range of $85,000k - $90,000k based on experience, and works in the PST or MST time zone only.
