Accounting Manager

About the role

This position is 100% in-office. The role requires working in office during standard business hours. Remote work or telecommuting is not an option for this position.

Responsibilities

• General Accounting: Responsible for the general ledgers for assigned properties, including monthly journal entries, income and expense accruals, expense recovery true-ups review, GAAP adjustments and bank reconciliations.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages on the assigned portfolio of properties. The packages include analyses and support schedules of all balance sheet account and explanations of significant variances in income statement accounts.
• Forecasts, Budgets and Financial Analyses: Responsible for the annual property budget and quarterly forecast review. Assist in preparation of the budget/forecast packages including detailed analysis of the revenue, expense and capital components.
• Handle special projects, as assigned.

• Desired Competency, Experience And Skills: Communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, Strong analytical ability, Well-organized; self-starter, able to handle multiple priorities, Minimum 8+ years of public/corporate accounting and/or commercial real estate accounting experience preferred, Strong leadership, takes ownership and initiative, Sense of urgency; ability to prioritize and knowing when to escalate, Knowledge of GAAP (specifically, real estate), Understanding of property management in relation to financial accounting, recoveries, budgeting and forecasting, Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; Master in Accounting/MBA preferred; and CPA, Experience in MRI, Yardi, JD Edwards desired, Proficiency in PC-based software such as Microsoft Excel
