Accounting Intern

About the role

This paid internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various accounting functions, including financial reporting, compliance, and analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, familiarity with financial software, and an eagerness to develop their skills within a professional environment.

Responsibilities

• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable management processes.
• Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data.
• Enter journal entries and maintain the general ledger using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or other financial systems.
• Help with balance sheet reconciliation and financial report writing and interpretation.
• Support month-end closing activities, including accruals and debits & credits analysis.
• Handle confidential information with integrity and ensure adherence to accounting standards and policies.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; recent graduates are also encouraged to apply.
• Prior experience or coursework in corporate accounting, public accounting, or financial software such as QuickBooks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, with the ability to perform basic data analysis and financial reporting tasks.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality.
• Demonstrated academic excellence with a minimum 3.5 GPA in Accounting coursework.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
• Analytical mindset which can effectively solve complex problems.
• Prioritization and time management skills are essential.

Other Work Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record as determined by a driver’s license background check (required for driving a company vehicle or your own vehicle on a regular basis).
• Must successfully pass a background check (7 years), FBI fingerprint clearance, and PA child clearance.
