Accounting Industry Strategy Expert - Freelance
About the role
We are looking for a forward-thinking Accounting Industry Strategy expert to help shape an innovative, commercial B2B learning solution designed for the accounting profession. This solution empowers early-career CPAs (typically new hires who are onboarding within a firm and before their first “busy season”) through immersive, tech-enabled training.
Responsibilities
- Commercial & Strategic Guidance: Ensure the learning journey directly addresses the real-world pain points of accounting firms (e.g., modern workload pressures, early-career engagement, effective professional success behaviors, and the CPA talent shortage).
- Active CoDesign Participation: Collaborate in virtual live workshops to brainstorm immersive simulation scenarios that mimic the actual modern accounting environment and will resonate with the target audience.
- Value Proposition Alignment: Help ensure the solution effectively delivers on its market promise: shortening time to productivity and accelerating competency attainment in public accounting.
Requirements
- A seasoned industry veteran within public accounting who understands the operational and talent challenges of managing junior staff.
- Ability to represent both tax and audit at the entry- to senior-staff level
- Passionate about the evolution of the profession and enthusiastic about cutting-edge learning tech (AI, simulations).
- Comfortable brainstorming in a high-energy, ambiguous, and collaborative environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and align with executive-level stakeholders.
- CPA preferred but not required
Qualifications
Approximate Time Commitment: ~25-30 hours spread across multiple weeks. Up to seven (7) virtual CoDesign sessions ranging from 2-3 hours. 30-minute debrief sessions with SweetRush after each CoDesign session. Participation in developing a Proof of Concept.
