About the role
The Accounting Coordinator I position at Veolia in North America supports various accounting and human resources functions, including Accounts Payable, Billing, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll. This role also involves support for special projects, audits, and annual activities such as budget preparation.
Responsibilities
- Compile and review payroll information, ensuring accuracy and completeness of timesheets before routing to ADP for processing.
- Aid new and existing employees with benefit changes, payroll inquiries, and other related tasks.
- Enter purchase order information into the purchasing system, including proper account coding.
- Support purchasing card transactions by obtaining and uploading necessary documentation, communicating with vendors regarding payments, and updating transactions with correct account coding.
- Route vendor invoices through the electronic approval process, match purchase orders with invoices, assign appropriate general ledger codes, and enter into the accounts payable system.
- Handle non-purchase order purchases by entering proper account coding and submitting and processing these transactions.
- Manage vendor inquiries regarding past due invoices, determining their status, and providing updates.
- Prepare and submit customer invoices and reports, and handle cash receipts or assist with cash receipt applications.
- Understand and apply sales and use tax rules applicable to both vendor purchases and customer invoicing.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Associates Degree in Accounting/Finance or related discipline preferred.
- One year of prior related work experience required.
- Strong team player, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong time management, and customer orientation.
- Proficient in computers, basic Microsoft Excel and Word skills, and a basic understanding of accounting principles and technical requirements.
