About the role
The Accounting Coordinator position is responsible for monitoring capital and controlled assets of the organization. Key duties include approving purchases, maintaining asset information in PeopleSoft, assisting with inventory audits, and processing surplus sales.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and report status of capital and controlled equipment purchases
- Maintain asset information in PeopleSoft
- Complete necessary paperwork related to transfers and/or disposal of assets
- Assist the Asset Management supervisor with inventory audits
- Review asset custodian information periodically
- Safekeep UNT vehicle titles
- Aid departmental inventory coordinators with the annual inventory process
- Provide a positive customer experience
- Handle cash handling controls related to surplus sales
- Reconcile revenue and sales tax liability related to sales
- Maintain procedures for job duties
- Process ABAs and overrides in a timely manner
- Ensure funding is transferred to appropriate categories
- Screens Electronic Personnel Action Reports (ePARs) for validity, procedural integrity, and budgetary impact before approval
- Prepare journals, research budgetary issues, and coordinate workflow of documents
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Thorough knowledge of accepted accounting practices, legal statutes, and policy and procedure affecting financial record keeping
- Thorough knowledge of cost and audit accounting
- Ability to work accurately with numerical detail consistently and to perform accounting operations legibly
- Demonstrated ability in coordinating and supervising the work of others
Preferred Qualifications
- PeopleSoft EIS experience
- Working knowledge of State of Texas comptroller's SPA processes
- Advanced Excel user
Skills
- Thorough knowledge of accepted accounting practices, legal statutes, and policy and procedure affecting financial record keeping
- Thorough knowledge of cost and audit accounting
- Ability to work accurately with numerical detail consistently and to perform accounting operations legibly
- Ability to analyze, consolidate, and present accounting data in clear concise form
- Demonstrated ability in coordinating and supervising the work of others
