About the role
We are looking for an Accounting Clerk to support day-to-day financial operations for a Financial Services organization in Bakersfield, California. This position is ideal for someone who brings a solid accounting foundation, strong attention to detail, and prior experience working in a health care environment. The role will focus on accurate transaction processing, record maintenance, and coordination across payables and receivables activities using accounting software and high-volume data entry.
Responsibilities
- Process vendor invoices, verify supporting documentation, and enter payment details accurately into accounting systems.
- Manage accounts payable activities by reviewing bills, preparing payments, and helping maintain organized financial records.
- Handle accounts receivable tasks, including posting incoming payments, tracking outstanding balances, and following up on open items.
- Perform high-volume data entry with a strong emphasis on accuracy, completeness, and timely updates to financial information.
- Use QuickBooks and related tools to maintain account records, reconcile transactions, and support routine reporting needs.
- Review invoice information for discrepancies, resolve basic billing issues, and ensure transactions are coded correctly.
- Assist with maintaining organized documentation for audits, internal reviews, and month-end accounting support.
- Collaborate with internal team members to keep financial workflows moving efficiently and address day-to-day accounting questions.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in an accounting clerk or similar finance support role.
- Hands-on experience with both accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks and confidence working within computerized accounting systems.
- Strong data entry skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience processing invoices and maintaining complete, well-organized financial records.
- Background working in the health care industry is required.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with colleagues and vendors.
