Accounting Clerk
About the role
Performs basic, structured tasks within the accounting department while applying a high level of attention to detail and time management skills.
Responsibilities
- Process and record expenditures, balance, and post daily accounting records to general ledgers. (65%)
- Prepares reconciliations of general ledger accounts as assigned. Analyzes and researches discrepancies when necessary. (25%)
- Serves as backup for other accounting responsibilities as directed. (10%)
Requirements
Experience: One to three years of bookkeeping, accounting, banking, or related experience.
Education: A high school education required. Accounting or Business related college preferred.
Interpersonal Skills: Work involves contact with persons beyond immediate associates regarding routine matters for the purpose of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (members or vendors), requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.
Other Skills: This position requires an aptitude for math and an attention to detail. Knowledge of basic, technical accounting tasks. Skill and ability to use and operate a keyboard (typewriter), computer, calculator, fax machine, scanner, copier and telephone. Skill and ability to read and understand basic financial statements, contracts, applications, computer printouts, manuals and other related materials. Requires basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, or kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: Work is performed indoors in an office environment with normal potential for exposure to safety and health hazards. May periodically travel to other, similar sites. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
