Accounting Clerk

About the Role
FiberTel is hiring an Accounting Clerk for our San Jose, CA location. This entry-level position provides administrative and accounting support for fiber optic construction projects, assisting with invoice processing, purchase order tracking, vendor payment support, data entry, and job cost reporting. The role works closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Field Operations, Vendors, and the Accounting Department to ensure accurate financial records and proper project cost tracking.
Responsibilities
- Enter and process vendor invoices into the accounting system.
- Match invoices to purchase orders and supporting documentation.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Track project-related expenses and job costing information.
- Review invoices for accuracy and proper coding.
- Maintain vendor records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with month-end closing activities and account reconciliations.
- Generate reports related to project costs, budgets, and expenditures.
- Communicate with vendors regarding payment status and invoice discrepancies.
- Support Construction Managers and Project Managers with financial and administrative requests.
- Organize and maintain electronic and physical accounting records.
- Assist with payroll support and employee expense reporting, as needed.
- Perform additional administrative and accounting duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Basic understanding of bookkeeping and accounts payable principles.
- Excellent data entry skills and proficiency in MS Office suite.
- High attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
- 1-2 years in construction accounting or related experience.
- Degree in accounting or related field currently in progress.
Working Conditions
This job operates in both office and field environments with occasional exposure to noise and other hazards. Routine use of standard office equipment is required. Occasionally, time may be spent outside the office when meeting clients or checking on vehicles.

- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Pay
$24-28/hr, depending on experience and qualifications.
