About the role
We are looking for our next great team member to join our Accounting Department team at the Hilton Short Hills, located across the street from The Mall at Short Hills. The hotel features locally sourced food, an outdoor terrace and lounge, tennis courts, and an indoor/outdoor pool to offer a memorable experience for our guests.
Responsibilities
- Sort and verify accuracy of Night Audit work (primarily receivables aspect), including reconciliation of banquet check extensions, coding of banquets at cost, review and route sales and promotion checks with back-up.
- Record department administration phone calls and inform Director of Finance of any potential concerns.
- Post city ledger payments in property management system, reconcile and bill all city ledger accounts.
- Perform follow-up billing and credit collection documentation; inform Director of Finance of any potential uncollectible accounts.
- Assist in reconciling open account status items.
- Input General Cashier Summary and maintain binder.
- Process all payroll duties and ensure compliance with Crescent internal audit.
- File and distribute credit card cancellations, bulletins, and credit warnings.
- Process and follow up on all returned checks accepted as cash payment.
- Record General Ledger and City Ledger reconciliations.
- Reconcile credit card back-up to General Cashier Summary and inform Director of Finance of any discrepancies.
- Bill out credit cards and maintain accurate and legible logs for all credit cards.
- Set up new accounts in accordance with established credit policy.
Requirements
- Hotel Accounting experience; Hilton brand experience a plus.
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or 2 to 3 years of related experience and/or training in hotel Finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to compile facts and figures.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills with advanced Microsoft Office knowledge.
