Accounting Assistant/Title Clerk
About the role
Holman Automotive is looking for an Accounting Assistant/Title Clerk to join the team at Lexus of Seattle. The Title Clerk is responsible for having a general understanding of all aspects of the accounting office in a dealership, including expertise of laws and regulations related to registering and titling a vehicle in the state and jurisdiction that the dealership is located, as well as out-of-state jurisdictions. The position reviews contract documents for compliance, titling, funding and billing, handles on-site cash receipts, balances daily cash deposits, verifies invoice approval, determines proper account classification and approval of disbursements, maintains accounts receivable, prepares journal entries, and scans documents to the Vancouver office for processing.
Responsibilities
- Process car deals both in and out of state, including breaking down deal jackets, submitting check requests for payoffs, processing licensing in VITU for Oregon deals, submitting titling paperwork to out-of-state third parties, signing off on titles accurately, issuing DMV refund checks, and other related tasks
- Review contract documents for proper compliance with regulations and per Holman policy
- Troubleshoot and resolve title-specific issues such as odometer discrepancies and power of attorney
- Reconcile appropriate account schedules
- Process daily deposit and bank run
- Prepare journal entries
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure optimum service levels, including ad-hoc accounting projects
- Contribute to and encourage a team-focused, values-based, service culture
- Answer customer inquiries or concerns in person, email, fax, or telephone in a professional, customer-focused manner
Requirements
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable attendance
- Ability to prioritize and adhere to regulatory and internal deadlines
- Proficiency in Excel and MS Office
- Excellent communication and customer relations skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good organizational skills and time management
- Automotive experience preferred
- Prior titling experience is a plus, but not required
Pay
$23 – $27/hour (depending on experience)
