Accounting Assistant
About the role
We are seeking an Accountant to support day-to-day financial operations for a services organization in Brook Park, Ohio. This long-term contract position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who can manage core accounting activities, maintain accurate records, and contribute to reliable financial reporting. The role requires strong analytical ability, sound judgment, and the confidence to work with internal and external stakeholders on accounting matters.
Responsibilities
- Process a high volume of vendor invoices with accuracy, ensuring proper coding, entry, and documentation within the accounting system.
- Review purchase orders against invoices and supporting records to confirm completeness and resolve discrepancies before payment processing.
- Absorb and analyze financial data to prepare and maintain Excel-based reports to track payroll activity, invoice status, and other accounting metrics.
- Support month-end close tasks by organizing payroll records, reconciling financial information, and producing required reports.
- Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions to help maintain timely processing and accurate financial data.
- Perform bank and account reconciliations to identify variances and assist with correcting posting issues.
- Use Foundation Software and Microsoft Office tools to manage accounting data and support day-to-day departmental operations.
- Contribute to the department’s ability to scale by maintaining organized workflows as employee counts and invoice volume increase over time.
Requirements
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field. Experience in accounting, preferably in a similar role, is preferred but not required. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Office are essential. Knowledge of accounting software and familiarity with payroll and accounts payable/receivable processes are beneficial.
